Mandatory training in SMEs: from a course catalogue to defensible evidence

Mandatory training needs role relevance, recurrence logic, understandable content, and verifiable evidence – not one blanket list for everyone.

Role- and risk-based, not a one-size catalogue

There is no single annual course list that applies to every employee. Relevance follows the role, sector, risk assessment, equipment, systems in use, and regulatory context. [1]

What a defensible system records

 • Target group and reason for assignment
 • Content, version, and policy or legal context
 • Attendance, assessment, and certificate
 • Renewal interval and reminders
 • Ownership and escalation for overdue work

E-learning is highly effective for awareness and knowledge. Practical qualifications, exercises, or formal competence still remain necessary where the task requires them.
